About tallow soap
Tallow soap is a traditional type of soap that humans have been making since the middle ages. Although the craft of tallow soap making has been around for centuries, in recent history, people have been returning to its simple formulation and nutritional benefits in reaction to all of the harsh synthetic and harmful ingredients common on retail shelves today.
Tallow soaps are made from a simple base of animal fat and lye, a combination that produces a gentle lather and a mild and nourishing effect on the skin. These soaps are hypoallergenic due to the lack of chemical ingredients and natural oils, herbs, and pumice are commonly used to scent the soap and create texture. At Tacet Soap Co., we add additional beneficial ingredients such as olive oil and shea butter to create even deeper levels of hydration and protection without overformulating.
