Our ingredients

At Tacet Soap Co., clean ingredients are paramount. Formulas matter.

Because what you put on to your skin, you put in to your skin.

Here is a view into our carefully chosen ingredient list:

Tallow. Beef Tallow is a miracle agent. It is known for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial compounds and use of this super-ingredient goes all the way back to ancient Egypt. Tallow stimulates  blood flow to the skin and contains naturally occurring vitamins A, K, D, & E, all of which help the skin to boost its own collagen production. It contains linoleic acid, a powerful omega-6 fatty acid and antioxidant. The chemical makeup of high-quality tallow (such as ours) is much more similar in its DNA makeup than most plant-based skin products, making it easier for the skin to recognize. This produces incredible results such as reversing skin damage, healing wounds and scars, reducing rosacea and redness, acne and discoloration, eczema and the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.

Shea Butter. Originating from the karité tree in the Sahel region of Africa, the use and fame of shea butter as a luxurious moisturizer goes back all the way to Cleopatra’s Egypt and beyond. It is widely celebrated for boosting collagen and providing deep hydration to the skin. It is also known for its moisturizing effects, anti-inflammatory, antifungal and antibacterial compounds.

Avocado Oil. Avocado oil was used by the Aztecs as a defense against the brilliant Mexican sun and protection against the wind. It is known for its ability to deeply nourish the skin and helps the skin maintain hydration while minimizing the damage from free radicals.

Castor Oil. The benefits of castor oil were well known and cherished in all of our grandmothers’ childhood homes, before falling out of popularity for a few decades, only to make a brilliant recent comeback to the benefit of us all (thank goodness). Castor oil is  beneficial for dry skin, hydrates, soothes, and detoxifies. It is also known for preventing swelling and inflammation and may also potentially help those with joint issues and arthritis. It has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine.

Olive Oil. Like tallow, olive oil is a rich source of naturally occurring vitamins E, A, D, and K. It has been used for millennia as a natural moisturizer full of antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids that help protect the skin from harmful UV rays, going back as far as the ancient Greek and Roman civilizations.

Coconut Oil. For four thousand years, people of the tropics have been using coconut oil as a moisturizer and treatment of skin disorders. One added benefit of coconut oil, (besides all of its nutrients and vitamins, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory compounds) is that it is actually ‘occlusive’, meaning that it sits atop the skin to lock in hydration, rather than deeply penetrating the outer epidermal layer. This serves to lock in the moisture and vitamins, retaining all the goodness and providing protection from the elements.

Arrowroot Powder. Derived from a tropical tuber in the Caribbean, Arrowroot is an incredible natural deodorant. This powerful plant ingredient absorbs sweat, moisturizes and reduces dryness, while calming irritated skin.

Babbasu. An environmentally-healthier alternative to palm oil, Babbasu is an Amazonian powerhouse of healthy fatty acids and antioxidants. This ingredient has anti-inflammatory properties, and has traditional use in skin repair.
